The Safety Bay end of
season speed trails was great chance for all the sailors
amateur's and pro's to get out there and have a good time.
The conditions were very challenging with winds speed of
20 to 30 knots and choppy water conditions.
Robbie Radis (Neilprdye/Kinetic) was out
on the course early keen to show the speed of the new RS4 and
with in a few runs had broken the 70km mark with a 70.9km run
on his 6.7 RS4 with his 55cm wide Kinetic slalom board. Dan
Engdahl (Severne/Starboard) along with Chris lockwood (Arrows/Kinetic)
also followed soon after. Engdahl managed to get the closest
to Radis with a 68.4km run on his costom speed board with a
5.8 Severne sail with lockwood holding down 3nd place with
67.3 on his 5.8 Arrows with a speed board he build him self.
Radis after a short brake then hit the speed course again and
put down his fastest run with a 72.2 and then finished of the
day with a 72.6 run.Engdahl & Lockwood
were not able to improve on there speeds so Robbie Radis (Neilpryde/Kinetic)
took the speed event out with a speed of 72.6km.
Comments. Robbie Radis (Neilprdye/Kinetic) I was a little
nerves as first as I dont have a speed board and my 6.7 RS4
is the smallest sail I have at the moment.
But in the end I had great board speed and control in the high winds.
